Barker Creek Circuit
South Burnett
Bunya Mountains National Park
A great walk through changing vegetation with a number of lookouts and typically dry, but beautiful waterfalls.
This lightly trafficked, well-marked trail starts from either the Dandabah picnic area or Paradise car park in the Bunya Mountains.
The walk takes you through a variety of vegetation types, including lush rainforest and open grasslands.
A short 750 metre detour takes you to Big Falls Lookout and Barker Creek Lookout. From Big Falls Lookout, look across Barker Creek Gorge to the falls, located on a cliff covered in towering hoop pines.
The walk also passes three waterfalls, Paradise Falls, Little Falls and Tim Shea Falls. All of the falls on the walk are typically dry, except after heavy rain.
The walk concludes with a mesmerising patch of towering bunya pines, with fern-covered forest floors and intricate webs of strangler vines.
Track: Graded and well-signed, the track is easy to follow, with only a small amount of elevation change.
Difficulty: The track is suitable for all fitness levels.
Direction: While the track can be completed in either direction, anti-clockwise is recommended.
