A lovely walk down steps to a pristine water hole, perfect for a picnic or for cooling off on a warm day.
This moderately trafficked, well-marked trail starts from a small car park at the end of Coomba Waterhole Road in Maidenwell.
The walk involves a well-maintained set of stairs which descends through open eucalypt and grassland, littered with Xanthorrhoea (austral grasstrees) to a stunning deep natural swimming hole set among granite cliffs.
The falls, and cascades above them, are typically dry, expect after heavy rain.
There is a flat grassy space near the waterhole that is the perfect spot for a picnic.
Beware that the water is ice cold even in the warmer months but it is still a great place to cool off in the hotter seasons.
There is a toilet located at the car park, but no bins, so be sure to take all rubbish with you.
Track: The track involves a well-maintained set of metal stairs, that takes you almost all the way to the waterhole, with a few rock steps at the bottom. The walk is well-signed and easy to follow. The track is short, but the return is all uphill.
Difficulty: The track is suitable for all fitness levels.
Direction: This is an out-and-back track that returns the way that it came.
