A delightful walk through lush rainforest, crossing numerous foot bridges and board walks and surrounded by wildlife, to a lovely, albeit typically dry, waterfall.

This heavily trafficked, well-marked trail in the southern section of D’Aguilar National Park starts at the Maiala Picnic Area.

The walk is a combination of three circuits, Greenes Falls, Rainforest Circuit and Cypress Grove Circuit.

The track meanders through lush rainforest, crossing a series of wooden boardwalks and footbridges, winding beside and over a small creek.

The best approach is to follow signs for Greenes Falls, ignoring the junctions that branch off for the Rainforest and Cypress Grove Circuits, as you will complete these on the return leg. On the way, the track passes across Browns Road (a dirt road) but is very well signed and obvious.

After the junction with the Cypress Grove Circuit, the track descends to the falls, where a constructed platform offers great views over the falls. The falls typically only flow after substantial recent rain.

Return the way you came, following signs for the Cypress Grove Circuit at the first junction, which leads back to the Browns Road crossing. After crossing the road, head left, following signs for the Rainforest Circuit to complete the three tracks.

The Cypress Grove Circuit passes a small grove of native cypress pines, while the Rainforest Circuit, as might be expected, passes through lush rainforest, including towering piccabeen palms.

The track has excellent flora and fauna on display and is one of the best and most popular walks in the Mount Glorious area.

Track: Graded and well-signed, making the track is easy to follow. There are a number of steps along the track and a small descent and ascent to reach the falls.

Difficulty: The track is suitable for all fitness levels.

Direction: This is a loop track that combines three circuits. It is recommended to complete the circuits in a clockwise direction, initially following signs to Greene Falls, then completing the additional Cypress Grove Circuits and Rainforest Circuits on the return leg.

getting there

The trail starts from the Maiala Picnic Area in Mount Glorious, 1 hour drive northwest of Brisbane.

The car park is quite large but can fill up on weekends as the surrounding area is very popular.

best time to go

The walk can be completed year-round.

An early start on a weekend or a weekday visit is advised.

This walk is best done after recent rain, in order to see water flowing through Greenes Falls, however is a pleasant walk at any time. If completing after recent rain, be sure to check the Queensland Parks website for updates regarding flooding and track closures.
