Great Sandy National Park (K'gari - Fraser Island)
A short and easy walk along a graded path to the beautiful and often unpopulated Lake Allom.
This moderately trafficked walk starts at a small carpark off a track off of Woralie Road.
The walk is a very easy and short stroll along a graded track through bushland to a constructed platform with steps right down to the water’s edge.
The lake is beautiful and only really becomes populated when tour groups pass through.
You can have a swim and search for turtles and bird life, which are plentiful in the area.
You can also extend the walk and do a circuit around the lake. The alpine style trees by the lake add to the scenery.
Track: Graded and well-signed, the track is easy to follow.
Difficulty: The track is an easy stroll and is suitable for all fitness levels.
Direction: This is an out-and-back track that returns the way you came.
getting there
The trail starts from a carpark on a track just off Woralie Road on K’gari (Fraser Island). The trail is located 75 minutes drive north of Eurong. Take the beach track and then head inland at the Pinnacles.
A high-clearance 4WD is required to get to the walk.
K’gari (Fraser Island) is located 300kms north of Brisbane and is accessed via ferry from either Rainbow Beach or Hervey Bay. A high-clearance 4WD is required to visit the island if not going with a tour.
Parking is ample for how trafficked the walk is.
best time to go
The walk can be completed year-round.
