Mapleton Falls & Wompoo Circuit
Sunshine Coast
Mapleton Falls National Park
A spectacular lookout just a stone’s throw from the car park, offering views of Mapleton Falls and out into the Obi Obi Valley, as well as a pleasant stroll through the rainforest.
This moderately trafficked walk starts from the carpark at the end of Mapleton Falls Road in Mapleton.
From the car park, walk 50 metres to the clearly visible viewing platform that extends over the falls and valley floor.
The lookout provides amazing views of the 120m high Mapleton Falls, from which Pencil Creek plummets into the valley below. There are also uninterrupted views into the Obi Obi Valley.
When exiting the lookout, head left to the Wompoo Circuit, a pleasant 1.2 km walk which loops through lush rainforest above the waterfall.
The circuit crosses two creeks before the loop begins, with a second viewing platform at Peregrine Lookout offering obscured views into the valley.
The walk includes a number of wooden footbridges and meanders through towering piccabeen palms and strangler figs.
Track: Graded and well-signed, the track is easy to follow.
Difficulty: The track is suitable for all fitness levels.
Direction: The loop track can be completed in either direction.
