A scenic drive through Bellthorpe National Park to a small park showcasing relics from the tree logging era.
This lightly trafficked drive starts on Mountford Road in Stony Creek, not far from the Stony Creek Day Use Area.
The track is very straightforward, along a well-maintained gravel road, and involves very little 4WD experience, however be sure to stick to the main road as harder tracks exist in the park.
The drive passes through a mix of lush subtropical rainforest and sclerophyll forest.
Signs then direct you to the Old Brandon’s Sawmill Site, where there are numerous relics of the logging era, including a gantry, frame saw, crane pivot and some old building foundations.
There is also the option to continue onto Jimna, or approach this drive from this route if coming from the north.
You can either return the way you came or exit the national park using Bellthorpe West Road and Bellthorpe Range Road to get to Kilcoy-Beerwah Road.
Difficulty: The drive is a beginner level track which does not require 4WD to be engaged in typical, dry conditions. The road is well-maintained, with very few ruts, no creek crossings and no steep or exposed edges.
Direction: This drive can be completed as either an out-and-back track that returns the way it came, or as a loop when connected with Bellthorpe West Road.

The drive starts on Mountford Road in Stony Creek, not far from the Stony Creek Day Use Area, about 1.5 hours drive north-west of Brisbane.
best time to go
The drive can be completed year-round.
