Palm Grove Circuit & Jenyns Circuit
Scenic Rim
Tamborine National Park
A pair of walks through towering strangler figs and piccabeen palms that can be done in isolation or linked together.
This moderately trafficked, well-marked trail can be started from a number of locations, the best being a car park at the end of Palm Grove Avenue in Tamborine Mountain.
The walks can be combined or done separately, with the Palm Grove Circuit being 2.7 kms, or 4 kms when combined with the Jenyns Circuit.
The Palm Grove Circuit is great for families or those short on time, while the Jenyns Circuit involves a little more elevation and includes some sections beside steep cliff edges.
While there are no waterfalls or lookouts on either track, it is still a beautiful walk.
The Palm Grove Circuit takes you through subtropical rainforest, including towering strangler figs, piccabeen palms and buttressed carabeens, as well as ferns and fungi.
As you continue onto the Jenyns Circuit, the vegetation changes to drier eucalyptus forest, featuring hoop pines, brush box and grey gums and ancient cycads.
There is a picnic table at the start of the walk.
Track: Graded and well-signed, the track is easy to follow.
Difficulty: The track is suitable for all fitness levels, however the Jenyns Circuit does include a bit of elevation and some steep cliff edges, so care is required.
Direction: This is two loop tracks combined. If doing both, it is suggested to do them in a figure-eight, starting clockwise on the Palm Grove Circuit before doing the Jenyns Circuit anticlockwise and re-joining the Palm Grove Circuit clockwise to finish. If just doing Palm Grove Circuit, it is recommended to complete it clockwise. The loop section of the track starts a short while into the circuit.
getting there
The trail starts from the car park at the end of Palm Grove Avenue in Tamborine Mountain, 1 hour drive south of Brisbane. It can also be started from nearby Curtis Road.
Parking is ample for how trafficked the walk is.
best time to go
The walk can be completed year-round.
Always check the Queensland Parks website for updates on track closures.
Remember, whenever venturing into the outdoors, practice the Leave No Trace principles and be considerate of others. This means: dispose of your waste properly, don't remove things or move things from their natural position and respect all wildlife. Also be sure to plan ahead and adequately prepare for any adventure.
