A stroll to a raised viewing platform with views to Perseverance Dam and the surrounding hills.
This lightly trafficked walk starts from the Perseverance Dam Rest Area off of Perseverance Dam Road in Crows Nest.
From the car park, there are views to the spillway and across the dam, as well as a small picnic area and a plaque commemorating the opening of the dam in 1970.
At the rear of the car park, a grass vehicle maintenance track (gated) heads up the hill to another picnic area set amongst trees.
To the left of this picnic area you can find the raised, constructed metal viewing deck, which offers views across the dam to the Pump Station.
Nearby the viewing deck, a large stone includes a plaque remembering a construction worker who lost their life in 1964 while the dam was being constructed.
From the car park, you can also cross the bridge to the Eastern Spillway Reserve on the other side of the spillway.
Track: While unsigned, the track is easy to follow, involving a grass vehicle maintenance trail and graded path.
Difficulty: The track is suitable for all fitness levels.
Direction: This is an out-and-back track that returns the way it came.

The trail starts from the Perseverance Dam Rest Area off of Perseverance Dam Road in Crows Nest, approximately 2.25 hours drive west of Brisbane.
Parking is ample for how trafficked the walk is.
best time to go
The walk can be completed year-round.
