A short but steep set of stairs up a magnificent rocky headland, with spectacular views to the rugged coastline and ocean.

This heavily trafficked walk starts from the large car park at the eastern end of Terrigal Beach, off Terrigal Esplande/Scenic Highway in Terrigal.

If possible, try and park on the southern end of the ring road around the sports field, where the walk starts, otherwise from the main car park, head across the sports field or dog park to the trailhead.

Near the trailhead, marvel at the Skillion – a narrow, rocky headland that juts out into the ocean at almost 40m above sea level.

A short, but steep set of stairs will take you to a small concrete viewing platform at the top of the Skillion, with spectacular 270-degree views out to the ocean and along the rugged coastline.

To the south, views the cliffs as they wind their way down to Avoca and Tudibaring Head, including the opulent cliff-top homes with enviable views.

To the north, there are amazing views to nearby Kurrawyba and Terrigal Points and the rocky shelves beneath the Skillion, as well as distant views to Wamberal Point and Wyrrabalong Lookout.

Those wishing to stretch their legs further can also walk to Kurrawyba Point, where another viewing platform offers excellent views back to the Skillion, or stroll along the iconic 227-metre-long Terrigal Boardwalk on the other side of the main car park.

The main viewing platform is fenced. Be sure to stay behind the fence away from the unstable cliff edges.

There are public toilets nearby the carpark, as well as many cafes in the surrounding streets.

The walk is a great addition to a day-trip to the area, visiting other popular sites such as Long Jetty, The Entrance Ocean Baths, and Norah Head Lighthouse further north up the coast.

Track: The track involves a short but steep set of concrete steps. The walk is well-signed and easy to follow.

Difficulty: The walk is relatively easy, with the set of steps being steep, but short. It is suitable for all fitness levels with sufficient time.

The main viewing platform is fenced. Be sure to stay behind the fence away from the unstable cliff edges.

Direction: This is an out-and-back track that returns the way it came.
