A short walk to a beautiful beach popular with surfers, surrounded by forest, and with a cave tucked into the cliff near the ocean’s shore.
This heavily trafficked walk is located at the carpark at the end of Cave Beach Road in Jervis Bay.
A short stroll from the car park along a wide and well-maintained trail takes you to the top of the dune down to the beach, with stairs leading onto the pristine white sand.
Along the way, take the short side-track to a constructed lookout, with views down onto the beach.
Cave Beach is set amongst coastal bushland, with a short but dramatic cliff line at the southern end of the beach, where a sea cave is located.
The beach is known for its excellent surfing, but is also popular with families and tourists.
Within the turquoise waters, dolphins are regularly spotted in the bay.
Note that the beach is not supervised by lifeguards, so caution is required when entering the water, and children should be supervised at all times.
There is a block of toilets along the path, prior to the stairs onto the beach. Be sure to protect the natural beauty of the location and take all rubbish with you.
This is a great walk to add to a day-trip of the area, including the Hole-in-the-Wall, Murrays Beach and Boat Ramp, the Cape St George Lighthouse and White Sands Walk.
Track: The trail involves graded, well-maintained paths, and a sandy set of stairs onto the beach. The track is relatively flat, except for last leg down to the beach. The track is well-signed and easy to follow.
Difficulty: The track is well-maintained and relatively flat, making it easy and suitable for all fitness levels. The beach is not supervised by lifeguards, so caution is required when entering the water, and children should be supervised at all times.
Direction: This is an out-and-back track that returns the way you came.
