A short walk with varying scenery, including a pleasant foreshore, a rocky beach walk beside cliffs and the iconic Shorncliffe Pier.
This moderately trafficked walk starts at the Shorncliffe Foreshore.
The walk is an easy to moderate stroll from the foreshore to Shorncliffe Pier (not to be confused with Baxter’s Jetty).
There are sealed footpaths along the foreshore area, with views of Cabbage Tree Creek and the untamed mangroves on the opposite shoreline.
The pier can be reached via a walk along a rocky beach (accessed via a path near the small fishing jetty), situated between the cliffs and Bramble Bay. There is also a graded path for most of the way directly at the bottom of the cliffs.
For those looking for a less rocky walk, there is also a sealed footpath on Shorncliffe Parade at the top of the cliffs that leads to the pier.
Explore the rock pools at low tide and dip your toes in the water. There is also a small sea wall and a protected swimming area before reaching the pier.
The Shorncliffe Pier stretches 351m out into Bramble Bay and was renovated in 2016. The original wood of the pier was retained as part of the renovation, constructed on longer lasting concrete poles.
The original pier was built in 1882 and extended only 259m into the bay, before being extended in 1884.
The pier has views back along the Lover's Way walk to Sandgate Foreshore.
Moora Park, next to the pier, has picnic tables and BBQs, a playground, and is a suitable place for swimming.
To head back, either retrace your steps along the beach, or take the stairs at the end of the park and head along the sealed footpath on Shorncliffe Parade. The view from atop the cliffs to Moreton Island are spectacular.
The walk is best completed at sunset or sunrise on mid-tide, however, is lovely at all tide times. Note that the rocky beach may be impassable at the top of the tide - in this case, use the path atop the cliffs on Shorncliffe Parade.
Track: The walk consists of sealed footpaths, graded tracks and/or a rock hop along a rocky beach. While unsigned, the track is easy to follow.
Difficulty: The walk is a relatively easy stroll and can be adapted to suit all fitness levels, including those in wheelchairs (with assistance), such as excluding the walk along the rocky beach. The walk is flat for the entire foreshore, with steps and hills encountered if walking atop the cliffs.
Direction: This walk can be completed as an out-and-back walk that returns the way you came, or a loop track that goes one way along the beach and returns atop the cliffs.

This means: dispose of your waste properly, don't remove things or move things from their natural position and respect all wildlife.
