A short walk to a spectacular lookout offering uninterrupted views towards Lake Moogerah and its peaks.

This moderately trafficked, well-marked trail in the Goomburra Section of Main Range National Park starts at a small car park off of Lookout Road.

The walk is short, with minimal elevation and passes through lush rainforest, with strangler vines creating an interesting web through the trees.

The constructed lookout provides classic Goomburra section views, uninterrupted out to the Fassifern Valley, Lake Moogerah and its many associated peaks, Mount Barney and even Lamington Plateau and Brisbane city on a fine day.

Some of the peaks visible from the lookout include Mount Barney, Mount Maroon, Mount Greville, Mount Edwards, Mount French, Mount Moon and Mount Alford.

This track is located on Lookout Road (a 4WD track) and is well paired with Araucaria Falls and Mount Castle Lookout, as well as the longer North Branch and Winder Tracks.

Track: Graded and well-signed, the track is easy to follow.

Difficulty: The track is suitable for all fitness levels.

Direction: This is an out-and-back track that returns the way it came.

getting there

The trail starts from a small car park area off of Lookout Road in Goomburra, 2.5 hours drive south-west of Brisbane. A 4WD or high clearance vehicle is recommended for getting to this location.

The car park is small and can fill up quickly on weekends.

best time to go

The walk can be completed year-round.

The lookout is most beautiful at sunrise or sunset or a clear day or with light, wispy clouds to get the best viewing from the lookout.

Always check the Queensland Parks website for updates on track closures.
